Once upon a time, Mike Lombardo was born. Soon after that, he started banging on pianos. Only a short while later, he found himself at Berklee College of Music. He discovered he liked cheeseburgers, learned to fold his own clothes, and emerged victorious from a handful of internet songwriting contests. Having been declared a Master of Song Fu, he graduated from college in 2009, toting a songwriting degree and the sense of accomplishment that comes with making it all the way through college without consuming a single serving of Top Ramen noodles. Mike originally used YouTube as a means for posting his songwriting class homework assignments, but before too long, the Internet At Large had discovered him and viewed his videos over a million times. Once, Mike wrote a song about Stephen Fry. Stephen liked it. In 2010, the Mike Lombardo Trio released a double album titled "Songs For A New Day" on YouTube-exclusive independent label DFTBA Records. It had a picture of a tree on the front. His 2011 musical theater style concept album "The Alchemist," also distributed by DFTBA, has been staged by numerous student drama groups across the country, as well as inspired fan fiction, fan art, adaptations, and several spinoffs. Outside of your web browser, you may have spotted Mike on one of his national solo tours, on stage at Penny Arcade Expo, Kingdom of Loathing Con, or an assortment of rock clubs across the country under the pseudonym "56K" playing keyboards alongside nerdcore hip hop innovator MC Frontalot as part of his Solved 2011 tour. Mike's cover of They Might Be Giants' "My Man" was included on the "Mink Car Cover" album released for charity and containing peformances from many notable musical nerds. Mike's original music and videos are released under a Creative Commons 3.0 attribution non-commercial license, which allows his fans to freely share, adapt, and utilize his music in projects in new and creative ways. Mike is known for his unyielding dedication to his fanbase and his accessiblilty (Read: he checks his twitter way too much).
